a5c7b9f00b When a serial killer indicates that his next target is the Miss United States beauty pageant, the F.B.I. decides that they must get an undercover Agent as a participant in the contest. A search uncovers no suitable candidate other than a bumbling female Agent. Reluctantly, her Captain agrees to let her join the team working the case. The team is led by a womanizing Agent who has an apparent reluctant attraction to Bullock's character. She enters as Miss New Jersey, replacing a contestant who was discovered to have acted in a porn movie. The pageant managers are immediately aghast about the Agent appearing in the pageant, but arrange a top handler to come give her a quick make-over, with the expected outstanding results. Unfortunately, she still is bumbling. When the killer is suddenly caught, everything seems to be over, except the female Agent tries to convince her boss that something is still not right. She has discovered that the pageant managers are being dismissed after twenty-one years for younger people, and Bergen's character may not be as solid as she seems on the surface.

I LOVED this movie! It is so great! It has comedy and action all in one! Sandra bullock portrayed Gracie perfectly! It was totally different from most movies lately. It was never boring and each scene was completely different so it didn't bore you. The cast was great! I think they threw a little too much of the homosexual stuff into it but I think that is the only fault of the whole movie. There was a great chemistry between all the characters I thought and the plot was great. It wasn't too tough to follow but it throws you off a few times. Just the right amount of suspense in the movie too! There is not too much sexuality on the movie either so I think it is acceptable for children of all ages. Definately recommend the movie!
A heavily flawed vehicle for Sandra Bullock…don&#39;t waste time wondering what the movie has to say about the relative nature of beauty - its sentiments are downright ugly. At one point a room of FBI agents are laughing at computerized images of female agents - because the women are homely. Bullock&#39;s character jokes that one of her fellow contestants will self-induce vomiting to rid her body of pizza after they&#39;ve eaten it. How funny! In addition, we have to witness a huge team of beauty specialists attend to Bullock to &quot;beautify&quot; her. And it isn&#39;t until she&#39;s showing off her body and slathering on the makeup that Benjamin Bratt&#39;s character pays her any mind.<br/><br/>Bullock stretches herself thin here, desperately trying to play a quirky adult &quot;tom boy.&quot; She eats microwaved meals, wrestles with her coworkers, gets a bevy of pageant contestants drunk, picks her teeth and affects a horsey laugh. This isn&#39;t a character - it&#39;s a poorly written and acted caricature. Candace Bergen is utterly wasted. Some of the lines her 2-dimensional character has to deliver are laughable and uninspired (particularly toward the conclusion of the film). Only Michael Caine emerges somewhat untarnished from this generic turkey - his character probably has the most depth.
Has some entertaining moments, thanks mainly to Bullock herself, who is surprisingly glamorous as well as endearing.

As Stan (<a href="/name/nm0000638/">William Shatner</a>) begins to read off the names of the runners-up, Gracie tries to alert Eric (<a href="/name/nm0000973/">Benjamin Bratt</a>) but she can&#39;t be understood amidst the clamor and excitement on stage. Fourth runnerup California, third runnerup Nebraska, second runnerup Texas. Gracie is named first runnerup, leaving the crown to Rhode Island. When the crown is placed on Cheryl&#39;s (<a href="/name/nm0122688/">Heather Burns</a>) head, Gracie attempts to rip it off, making everyone think that she is a sore loser trying to steal the crown. In the ruckus that follows, Eric knocks out Frank who drops the detonator onstage, Kathy (<a href="/name/nm0000298/">Candice Bergen</a>) picks it up and detonates the bomb just as Gracie gets the crown away from Cheryl and tosses it in the air, blowing up the Statue of Liberty instead. Kathy and Frank are arrested, and Eric and Gracie agree to go out on a date when they get back to New York and Gracie &quot;gets all ugly again.&quot; Just as Eric and Gracie are about to leave in a taxi, Victor Melling (<a href="/name/nm0000323/">Michael Caine</a>) comes running out of the hotel, yelling about an incendiary device being spotted in the farewell breakfast room. Gracie runs back inside, only to find that she has been honored by being voted Miss Congeniality.
